bot developer policy
effective october 26, 2026. registering, publishing or operating a bot means accepting this policy, the sometimes terms and community rules. bots are independently operated by their developers unless explicitly identified otherwise.
your responsibility as the developer
you are responsible for your bot, its hosting, dependencies, providers, outputs and support. identify its actual developer and purpose accurately. a bot label, public listing or installation is not an endorsement by sometimes. do not claim that sometimes owns, licenses or approves your external service. keep your support and privacy-policy URLs accessible and current.
content and service permissions
obtain and maintain every permission, license and legal basis your bot needs. this includes copyright and performance rights for music or video, permission to access external services and APIs, and permission to collect or share user data. a user's installation or command does not grant those rights. do not bypass paywalls, access controls, geographic restrictions, provider terms or content protections. do not distribute malware, infringing streams, unlawful downloads or deceptive content. provide evidence of authorization when sometimes requests it.
data use and consent
request only the permissions necessary for clearly described features. use data only for the purpose and scope the user authorized. your privacy policy must explain the data received, purposes, recipients, retention, security, deletion contact and any AI provider. do not sell personal data, use chat content for advertising, profile people across services or train models on it without an appropriate separate legal basis and explicit consent. never ask for a sometimes password, verification code or session token. protect credentials and data in transit and at rest; promptly report an incident to safety@sometimeschat.com. stop accessing data when access is revoked, and delete data when no longer necessary or when a valid deletion request requires it. revoking a grant does not erase your own stored copies; you must handle that obligation.
safety and user control
the community rules apply to bot profiles, shared and private replies, displays, images, files, call audio and every other output. prohibit child sexual abuse and exploitation, grooming, explicit sexual content, threats, hate, harassment, scams and illegal activity. AI-generated output is subject to the same rules. respect blocks, mute settings, group exclusions, installation limits and rate limits. do not evade suspension or create replacement bots to continue prohibited behavior. do not send unsolicited promotions, manipulate ratings or charge for digital access through links or flows that violate the applicable app-store billing rules.
reports and enforcement
users can report bot profiles, shared messages and private replies in sometimes. maintain a working support contact, investigate reports promptly, remove violating material and cooperate with safety and lawful preservation requests. sometimes may restrict permissions, disable or suspend bots, remove content and revoke access to enforce its rules or protect users. developer responsibility does not remove sometimes's own platform obligations. appeal to safety@sometimeschat.com with the bot ID and decision reference; do not send passwords, tokens or suspected child sexual abuse imagery.
